Who can edit and remove team members
Only admins can edit or remove other team members. If you are a member, you will not see an Actions column on the Team Members page — ask an admin on your account to make the change for you.
The account owner — the teammate who originally created the account, shown with the Owner badge and the Original status — cannot be edited or removed from the Team Members page. If you need to transfer ownership, contact Octopods support.
You also cannot remove yourself from the Team Members page. If you need to leave the account, ask another admin to remove you.
Open the Team Members page
Sign in to Octopods.
Open Settings from the main navigation.
Click Team Members in the settings menu.
The table lists everyone on your team. The Status column tells you where each person stands:
Original — the account owner.
Accepted — an invited teammate who has set up their account and can sign in.
Pending — an invited teammate who hasn’t accepted yet.
The Actions column — visible only to admins — shows different buttons depending on the status.
Edit a team member
You can update a team member’s role from the edit screen. The only field you can change on this form is the role — the teammate’s name, email, phone number, and preferred channel are set when they accept their invitation and are not editable from the Team Members page.
On the Team Members page, find the teammate you want to edit. They must have the status Accepted — the Edit button is not available for pending invitations.
In the Actions column, click Edit. The page title changes to “Edit Member” and the body heading reads “Edit Team Member” with the subtitle “Update the role for this team member.”
Under the Member Details card, verify the teammate’s name and email.
Change the Role dropdown to either Admin or Member.
Click Save Changes, then confirm in the prompt: “Are you sure you want to update this member’s role?”
Octopods saves the change and returns you to the Team Members list with the confirmation “Member has been updated.”
Note: If you don’t need to change the role, click Cancel instead of Save Changes to return to the Team Members list without making any updates.
Revoke a pending invitation
If a teammate you invited hasn’t accepted yet and you want to cancel the invitation — because you invited the wrong email, the teammate no longer needs access, or you want to resend with a different role — use Revoke.
On the Team Members page, find the invitation with status Pending.
In the Actions column, click Revoke.
Confirm the prompt: “Are you sure you want to revoke this invitation?”
Octopods confirms with “Invitation has been revoked.” The pending row disappears from the list, and the accept link in the teammate’s invitation email stops working. If you want to invite the same person again, send a fresh invitation from the Invite Member button — see Inviting Team Members.
Remove an accepted team member
If a teammate has set up their account but no longer needs access — they’re changing roles, leaving the company, or were added by mistake — use Suspend to remove them.
On the Team Members page, find the accepted teammate. The status column shows Accepted.
In the Actions column, click Suspend.
Confirm the prompt: “Are you sure you want to suspend this member?”
Octopods confirms with “Member has been suspended.” The teammate loses access to the account immediately and can no longer sign in. Their row is removed from the Team Members list.
Warning: Removing a teammate takes effect right away — there is no undo. If you need to give them access again later, invite them with a fresh invitation.
Restrictions and error messages
A few actions are blocked by the system, with these exact messages:
Trying to edit or remove the account owner. The Team Members page hides the Actions buttons for the owner. If the action is attempted another way, Octopods blocks it with “You’re unauthorized to edit account owner” or “You’re unauthorized to remove account owner.”
A non-admin trying to edit or remove anyone. The message is “You’re unauthorized to change a team member’s role” or “You’re unauthorized to remove a team member.”
Trying to remove yourself. The Suspend button is hidden for your own row on the Team Members list.
The teammate no longer exists. If someone was already removed and you try to act on their row, Octopods responds with “Member not found.”
Re-inviting a former teammate
Revoked invitations and suspended members can both be re-invited. Send a fresh invitation with the Invite Member button. The new invitation is independent of the previous one — a new accept link is generated and emailed. The teammate sets up their account from scratch, choosing a new password.
