Viewing Proactive Message History in Intercom

Review the most recent proactive messages sent to a contact and check delivery status — all from the Intercom conversation sidebar.

Written by Tarek Khalil

Open the history view

  1. Open any Intercom conversation.

  2. Find the Octopods card in the sidebar.

  3. Click View sent messages.

The app opens a panel titled Your sent messages.

What the list shows

The panel shows the last 10 proactive messages sent to the current contact across every connected channel. Each row summarizes one message with its channel, timestamp, and a snippet of the body.

A note at the bottom confirms: Please note, we only show your last 10 sent proactive messages.

If no messages have been sent to this contact yet, the panel reads: You have no proactive messages sent, try to send your first proactive message and check again here.

Tip: The list is scoped to the contact on the current Intercom conversation. Switching conversations refreshes the list for the new contact.

Open a specific message

Click any row in the list to open its details. The detail view shows:

  • Your sent message — the full message body.

  • Sent by — the teammate who triggered the send.

  • Sent at — the timestamp of the send.

  • Sent from — the channel name.

  • Delivery Status — one of the four states described below.

Delivery status values

In the Inbox detail view, delivery status appears with an icon:

Status

Meaning

Send Attempted

The message has been handed to the provider but no delivery confirmation has arrived yet.

The provider accepted the message for delivery.

Delivered
