Setting Up TikTok for HubSpot

Connect your TikTok Business Account to a HubSpot workspace so DMs arrive in HubSpot and replies are delivered back to customers on TikTok.

Written by Mohamed Elbadwihi

Before you start

You need:

  • An Octopods account with an active omnichannel subscription.

  • A TikTok Business Account (personal accounts are not supported).

  • A HubSpot account with at least one inbox already created. If you don't have one yet, create an inbox in HubSpot first, then return here.

  • Regional limitation: US and EU TikTok accounts are not currently supported due to TikTok platform policies.

Step 1: Connect Your TikTok Business Account

  1. In Octopods, navigate to your workspace Channels page.

  2. Locate the TikTok option and click Connect TikTok Business Account.

  3. You are redirected to TikTok's authorization page — log in and grant the requested permissions.

  4. On success, Octopods returns you to the channel setup screen.

Step 2: Connect to a HubSpot Inbox

After TikTok authorization completes, you are taken to the Select HubSpot Inbox screen automatically. You can also reach this screen later from the HubSpot Integration section of your TikTok channel details page by clicking Connect to HubSpot.

  1. Open the HubSpot Inbox dropdown and choose the inbox where TikTok messages should appear.

  2. Click Activate.

  3. A confirmation screen confirms the channel is live.

If the HubSpot Inbox dropdown is empty, you need to create an inbox in HubSpot first, then return to this screen.

What happens after setup

  • Every new TikTok DM appears as a conversation in your chosen HubSpot inbox.

  • Octopods automatically creates a HubSpot Contact for the sender, or matches an existing one by phone number.

  • Your team replies inside HubSpot, and the reply is delivered to the customer's TikTok DMs.

Managing your TikTok channel

From the Channel Details page in Octopods you can:

  • Confirm your TikTok Business ID and verify that your account is connected.

  • View the connected HubSpot inbox via the View in HubSpot button.

  • If connected to a HubSpot Help Desk inbox, manage routing and assignments from HubSpot → Settings → Inboxes → Channels.

How to disconnect your TikTok channel

In the Danger Zone section of the Channel Details page:

  1. Click Deactivate TikTok Channel and confirm the prompt.

This immediately stops all message sync between TikTok and your HubSpot workspace. This action cannot be undone — you would need to reconnect from scratch.

Common Issues

  • "No TikTok accounts available" — Make sure you are logged in to a TikTok Business Account. Personal accounts are not supported. Switch to a Business Account on TikTok and retry.

  • HubSpot Inbox dropdown is empty — No inbox exists in your HubSpot account yet. Create one in HubSpot first, then return to the Select HubSpot Inbox screen.

  • DMs not appearing in HubSpot — Go to HubSpot → Settings → Inboxes → Channels, confirm the TikTok channel is still assigned to the correct inbox, and that the account shows as connected on the Octopods Channel Details page.

  • Account in an unsupported region — US and EU TikTok accounts cannot be connected at this time due to TikTok platform policies.
