Resetting Your Password

Request a password reset link by email and choose a new password if you can't remember the one on your Octopods account.

Who should use this guide

This flow is for accounts that sign in with email and password. If you created your Octopods account with Google, Intercom, HubSpot, or Slack SSO, you don’t have an Octopods password — sign in with the matching SSO button instead. See Signing In with SSO (Single Sign-On).

Step 1: Request a reset link

  1. Go to the Octopods sign-in page.

  2. Click the Forgot your password? link below the sign-in button.

  3. You will land on the “Forgot your password?” page with the subtitle “Enter your email and we’ll send you a reset link”.

  4. Enter the email address associated with your Octopods account in the Email field.

  5. Click Send reset instructions.

Octopods emails the reset link to that address, even if it doesn’t exist on file — this is intentional and prevents attackers from confirming which emails have accounts.

Step 2: Open the reset email

Look for an email from notifications@octopods.io with the heading “Reset Your Password”. The email contains:

  • The message “Someone has requested a link to reset your password. You can do this by clicking the button below.”

  • A Reset My Password button.

  • A security notice that “This link will expire in 6 hours for security reasons.”

  • An informational line reminding you that your password won’t change until you follow the link and create a new one — so if the request wasn’t from you, no action is required.

Click Reset My Password to continue.

Step 3: Set your new password

The reset link opens the “Set your new password” page, with the subtitle “Choose a strong password to secure your account”.

  1. Enter your new password in the New password field.

  2. Re-enter the same password in the Confirm new password field.

  3. Click Change my password.

Once Octopods accepts the new password, you are signed in and returned to your workspace.

If the reset email doesn’t arrive

  • Check spam or junk. Mail from new senders is often filtered.

  • Verify the email address. The reset flow is silent if the address isn’t on file, so a typo produces no error message. Double-check the address you used.

  • Request another email. Reset links expire after 6 hours. If you waited too long, or the message never arrived, go back to the “Forgot your password?” page and request a fresh one.

  • Check with your email administrator. Corporate mail servers sometimes quarantine messages from newly-contacted domains. Ask for notifications@octopods.io to be allowlisted if needed.

If the reset link is expired

Reset links are valid for 6 hours. If you click one that has expired, Octopods will ask you to request a new link. Repeat Step 1 to get a fresh email.
