Before you cancel
A few things to know before you cancel:
Only admins can cancel a subscription. If you don’t see the Deactivate button on a subscription card, ask an admin on your team.
Cancellation is immediate. The subscription stops, all channels tied to that plan are deactivated, and your team can no longer send or receive messages on those channels.
A final invoice is generated. At the moment of cancellation, Octopods creates and sends the final invoice for any outstanding amount for the current period.
Other subscriptions are not affected — each Octopods plan is canceled independently. For example, canceling Omnichannel doesn’t touch a WhatsApp Business subscription.
Some related billing add-ons may also be canceled automatically when this is your last active messaging plan, since those add-ons can only be used alongside an active messaging subscription.
On the Billing & Subscriptions page you’ll also see a reminder banner explaining the same thing. It reads: Deactivating any subscription will cancel it effective immediately and will deactivate all channels connected to that product. You will not be able to receive or send any messages from those channels anymore.
Cancel a subscription
Sign in to Octopods and open Billing & Subscriptions.
Find the plan you want to cancel under Active Subscriptions.
Click Deactivate on the subscription card.
The Cancel Subscription dialog opens.
Fill out the cancellation survey
The dialog asks one required question: What is the main reason you are leaving?
Pick one of the following reasons (the order you see them may vary):
It is not working as I expected
I don’t need to use it anymore
I don’t think the value is worth it
I found an alternative
There are missing features
It is complex to setup
It is expensive
Something else
After you pick a reason, an optional text field labeled “Could you share some more details? (optional)” appears.
Add any additional context you’d like the Octopods team to see. This field is optional — you can leave it blank.
Confirm the cancellation
Click Cancel Subscription to confirm. The button reads “Cancelling…” while the cancellation is processed.
To back out, click Keep Subscription instead. No changes are made and the dialog closes.
Once confirmed:
The subscription disappears from Active Subscriptions and is fully canceled.
Channels tied to that plan are deactivated and stop sending or receiving messages.
A final invoice is generated for any outstanding amount and charged to the card on file. It appears in the Invoices section on the Billing & Subscriptions page.
If the canceled plan was your last messaging subscription and you had Proactive Messaging active, that add-on is canceled too.
If you cancel during the trial
If you cancel before the 7-day trial ends, no payment is taken. The subscription ends and the channels are deactivated immediately, but no invoice is generated. See Free Trial for how trials work.
Resubscribing after cancellation
You can resubscribe to a canceled plan at any time. The fresh subscription may come with a shortened trial period to prevent repeated extensions, and you’ll see the trial end date before you confirm.
See Subscribing to a Plan for the signup flow.
Tip: If you’re mostly concerned about cost but still want the features, consider downgrading instead of canceling — you can reduce the number of channels, numbers, or workspaces covered by the plan without losing access entirely.
